About 3D Snake

3D Snake brings the timeless arcade classic into a fully three-dimensional world. Your neon serpent glides smoothly across a dark grid lit from below by pulsing food orbs, each segment trailing behind the head in a gradient from bright cyan-green to deep emerald. The perspective camera places you above and slightly behind the action, giving a dramatic view of the arena that makes every sharp turn feel deliberate.

The rules are pure snake: eat the glowing sphere to grow one segment longer and earn ten points, then find the next one before you run out of room. Every food you eat nudges the speed up — the gap between steps shrinks steadily until you are racing around the grid at more than ten moves per second. Making clean turns under pressure, planning your path several moves ahead, and not trapping yourself in a corner are the skills that separate a 50-point run from a 300-point one.

When a collision happens, your entire snake shatters outward in a particle explosion — each segment scatters with its own trajectory and tumbles off-screen before the Game Over screen appears. Your best score is saved in your browser and shown on the start screen each time you return, giving you a personal benchmark to chase on every run.

How to Play 3D Snake

  1. Press any Arrow key or W / A / S / D to start the game. The snake begins moving to the right — steer it with the same keys.
  2. Guide the snake to eat the glowing pulsing orb. Each orb adds one segment to your snake and ten points to your score, then a new orb appears somewhere on the grid.
  3. You cannot reverse direction directly — pressing the exact opposite key while moving is ignored. Plan your turns ahead, especially as the snake grows longer.
  4. Hitting a wall or running into any part of your own body ends the run instantly. Your best score is saved to local storage and shown on the start screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I press the opposite direction to reverse?

No — 180° reversals are blocked, the same as classic Snake. Pressing Left while moving Right (or Up while moving Down) does nothing. You need to make a U-turn over two steps instead.

Does the snake speed up?

Yes — the snake accelerates continuously as you eat more food. It starts at about 5 steps per second and increases with every orb you eat, capping at around 13 steps per second. The speed level is shown at the bottom of the screen.

My best score is not showing. Why?

Best scores are stored in your browser's local storage. If you are playing in a private or incognito window the score will be cleared when you close the tab. Use a normal browser window to keep your record between sessions.

Can I rotate the camera?

No — the camera is fixed in a bird's-eye perspective angle to keep the gameplay clear. All interaction is through the keyboard.

Can I play on mobile?

Yes — on touch devices, a D-pad appears below the game. Tap the direction arrows to steer the snake. You cannot reverse 180° directly, same as on keyboard.
